I am British, but I always feel slightly embarressed about being British abroad because so many British tourists are so ignorant and never make any effort to speak the local language, often start shouting and being aggressive after drinking too much of the local beer, always compare everything to home and are often complaining.
British tourists seem to have a bad rep just about everywhere they frequently visit.
It depends on the location. Americans tend to act unruly in party destinations like Cancun. The British equivalent would be Ibiza, Spain. Canadians, who have an exceptional reputation overseas, aren't quite the same when they cross into U.S. border cities. This has been especially true in recent years, ever since the Canadian dollar appreciated vis-a-vis the USD. They drive recklessly, litter, get into fights at sporting events, can't control their liquor, and tend to rub retail workers the wrong way (there is even a Facebook group called "I Hate Canadian Shoppers"). So it depends on who you ask.

I know it will sound horrible, but that's exactly why I love the British. Every Brit that I've met while traveling has been extremely fun to hang out with and we usually end up just getting trashed. Now, none that I have met have been extremely rude or embarressing, but they do love their booze.
What I found funny about the Brit travellers' image is that while their image is terrible in Europe, they are pretty well liked elsewhere!
That's probably because other places don't get them in such huge numbers, so they never really see the real Britain and get their idea of British people from films and TV shows that portray Brits as stiff-upper lip types.
