The odd thing about Mao is his insistence that they grow more tonnage in the fields so that a field that could normally produce say 100 tons would, according to the pundits, be capable with "improvements" produce 20, 000 tons.

I am just curious as to why almost everyone put down Hitler? Is it because of the deal with him getting rid of the jews in europe? or is there some other reason? If that is the only reason you are putting him down its not very smart, the man did take a country that was destroyed and in the dumps and turned it into a super power in 5 years, he rejuvenated the economy, rebuilt roads pretty much turned germany around.

If I can extend this to regimes, I've always had a special fear/loathing of the Mongols. Every country they've invaded just ... hasn't been ... right in the head ever since, and that takes special talent to mess up generations of people over hundreds of years. That puts them up there with European colonialism.
