Just wondering. I'm so used to the colloquial usage of North America to mean US+Canada or otherwise English-speaking North America though I'm aware geographically it's technically USA, Canada and Mexico and sometimes more. I would say I almost always think of just the US and Canada as "North America" in daily life.

When people say North America I immediately think of the US and Canada. Probably because these two countries are so incredibly similar.

I think of North America as the US and Canada. If you just say "America" I think of the USA, even though everyone from North, Central, and South America is an "American." When you say "North America" I see that as a way of wanting to include Canada without saying "The United States and Canada." If you say North America, I assume it atleast has one Canadian connection.

Mexico is kind of different. Its part of Latin America, but it doesn't fit into Central America. Its more North American than Central American. Its not part of the C-4, they use tu instead of vos, and its economy /size is much bigger than all countries between it south to Panama.

It depends on context. I think people say North America because they don't have an easy word like "Latin America" or "Eastern Europe" to describe this culturally and historically intertwined regional bloc that the American States and Canadian Provinces constitute. But it sucks that this ends up the de-facto term for this phenomenon, since it has a different meaning in that it's supposed to refer to the whole continent. I usually assume North America refers to Panama and all nations north of it (it feels ridiculous to pretend Central America is somehow another continent when it's obviously in North America), but don't usually think of the Carribean as North America. But depending on the context I know that I can use it to mean America + Canada and I recognize when other people are trying to use it in this way.

I think of it as a term that includes Canada with the U.S. in a collective group.

There are many immigrants who emigrate to North America....in that kind of way.

Although technically Mexico is part of North America, it seems that most people don't intent to include it when they speak about 'North America'.

I commonly hear it in 'Asia' when people refer to 'North Americans' as that catch-all term of Canadian and American english teachers.

I like that Braket term their tiger, it works pretty much the same in Asia as well. How may people would consider the people of Lebanon Syria or Turkey (3 % of the country is in europe)to be Asian.
