For Montenegro:

Used to be part of the country of Yugoslavia before that area broke apart into 5+ new countries.

Montenegro actually separated from Serbia/Yugoslavia a lot later than the other countries Croatia/Slovenia/Bosnia/Macedonia. Those other countries separated in the early 1990s and for Montenegro it was around 15 years later in the year 2006.

Despite being part of Serbia until recently, most people associate Montenegro with Croatia a lot more culturally than Serbia.
