I'm not sure if all would call it beautiful, but I think there's little question that there isn't a more distinctively "beautiful" built environment for a city on the planet than Derinkuyu, Turkey: http://newsonhunt.com/wp-content/upl...uyu-Turkey.jpg I mean, perhaps Machu Picchu, but that doesn't still have people living there anymore. Out of more modern places, I'm not sure there's a single one that stands out THAT much from any of the others, but I voted for London due to it simultaneously being a mega city, yet also having a significant amount of park space and a beautiful riverfront (and in addition being less than an hour from picturesque hills and rugged coastline for hiking. It also has more modern architecture and technology (and it's striking at that), yet also having a history dating back to Roman times (and if you count surrounding areas, neolithic times).

Nice pictures and true, that is what comparison does, but taking a look at the other place you mentioned, Eiger, it's still nothing to sneeze at either.

Aconcagua's south face is another impressive wall too (2.5km tall)

Argentina is on my bucket list of places to go to. For some reason, I really want to go to Ushuaia and the Tierra del Fuego.

Thanks for the picture, and likewise. At the very top of my bucket list, along with visiting the the Far East (esp. Beijing/Tokyo) and the Holy Land (Israel/Egypt), is hiking one of Aconcagua or Chimborazo. Aconcagua is surprisingly though, unlike Patagonia, relatively accessible to civilization. The trailhead for it is only about a 3 hour car ride, or 100 km., from Santiago.

Last year an Argentinean guy worked with me, he has a brother who does the biologist. He went to work in Patagonia and this guy went to find him. He told me that Patagonia is wonderful.

Of the big metropolis, i really think that Rio de Janeiro has one of the most impressive natural scenarios. Imagine that millions can have this view everyday, it must be wonderful. The city has so much potential but unfortunately still can't find the right track.

I don't think you can quantify the most beautiful place on the planet because there are so many beautiful places on this world, I am just saying that Bradford is a beautiful city, but the surrounding Dales even more so (natural beauty always trumps man made beauty in my book).
