Although Portugal has a smaller population than Ohio, the Portuguese language ranks sixth in the world in number of native speakers, after Mandarin, Spanish, Urdu-Hindi, English and Arabic. Fewer than 5% of all Portuguese speakers live in Portugal.

(For nitpickers, I've classified Urdu-Hindi as a"native speakers" of the same language, although they are written using different alphabets.)

That's because Portuguese is spoken in Brazil, Angola and Cape Verde.

There is a word for meaning the diasystem Hindi-Urdu, it's called "Hindustani".
