There is a wide variety of places that are good for all of those categories (Global location, Local topography/scenery, Climate, History, Skyline, Dining, Entertainment, Nightlife, Live Music, People, Lifestyle, Culture, Quaintness, Architecture, Parks, Proximity to Nature etc.).
I could easily say at least 10 places for each category, but for now I will just mention 2 places for each of them. Maybe later on I will say 10 for each category.
Global Location: Vienna, Hong Kong
Local topography/scenery: Seattle, Hong Kong
Climate: Lankaran, Podgorica
Skyline: Chicago, Shanghai
Dining: Singapore, Paris
Entertainment: Paris, Hong Kong
Nightlife: Paris, Hong Kong
Live music: Stockholm, Bangkok
People: Paris, Hong Kong
Lifestyle: Paris, Seattle
Culture: Paris, Seattle
Quaintness: Grenoble, Geneva
Architecture: Paris, New York City, Shanghai (this is the only one where I’ll say 3 instead and not 2)
Parks: Vancouver, Hong Kong
Proximity to Nature: Cannes, Vancouver

Global location: Paris; other European cities by road, London by train, North America by air.
Local topography/scenery: Santiago; boasting the Andes at its doorstep.
Climate: San Diego; Spring-Summer all year round.
Skyline: Chicago; the best mix of architectural beauty and impressiveness.
Dining: London; now marginally ahead of Paris for haute cuisine.
Entertainment: London, for its legendary theater/opera district.
Nightlife: Miami.
Live Music: London; arguably the live music capital of the world, for most genres of music.
People: New York City.
Lifestyle: London; classy, vibrant, elegant, urbane and eclectic (provided you have money).
Culture/History: Vienna.
Architecture: Paris; no contest here.
Quaintness: Lucca, Italy.
Parks: Paris; with the most well-tended and presentable public parks.
Proximity to nature: Singapore; a city parked right next to a jungle.

Citizen401. Those were lovely choices and pictures. I agree with everything except for Singapore which has a hideous beach resort (Sentosa Beach).

I actually prefer the old Sentosa. Sure the new one is more 'world class', but the old one had a sort of charm.
I agree. I think HK beats S'pore for natural scenery. It has nice beaches, mountains, hiking trails.

That last one was a tough choice for me, but I agree that some cities do have more agreeable natural landscapes nearby. I guess what impressed me most about Singapore, in this respect, is that one can literally walk from roaring rush hour traffic to dense jungle canopy within a matter of minutes.
Put simply, the direct juxtaposition of hi-tech modern metropolis with raw wildlife.

Few realise that more than half of Singapore island is actually forested/non-urban.

I wonder how many admissions their hospitals get annually for scorpion venom poisoning.
