Neither is Costa Rica, a very peaceful country. Nor Uruguay, Belgium, Taiwan, Ireland, Singapore and so on. In my opinion not being in the news is not so bad. Ej. Russia and the U.S. are always in the news mostly in a negative way.
That's a huge generalization: N.Z actually has a big problem with its indigenous people.
Just because N.Z. is not "in the news" (btw, whose news do you mean?) does not mean that there are no issues in the country. In fact, even worse, it probably just means that no one gives a ****.

It's an interesting article with one interviewee noting that the existence of racism in NZ is denied by non-minority populations.
Not sure what the OP's news sources are; Aljazeera is at least mentioning NZ in its news.
Thanks, interesting article.
I've long taken issue with the view that racism is denied in NZ. I see it as a lack of interest instead. Personally, I'm not interested in discussing race with Maori (or anyone else for that matter), and I doubt many Maori other than academics, do either.
I'm more interested in a legal approach to creating a fairer environment . The motive of the Hikio in the first photo is an example of that - awarding council seats on the basis of race. People by and large aren't in favour of that though, as they see it weakening democracy.
