I haven't been to Tokyo. So based on the other 4, I would say that NYC and London are a close tie and then Paris and Hong Kong.

This is about right, but Paris is not more dangerous than NYC.

Paris has a homicide rate of 4.4. NYC 6.0. In both cities they're mainly to do with the ghettoes.

Paris does not have a homicide rate of 4.4 , this an error made by a newspaper who compared apples and oranges. Paris homicide rate is under 2.

And NYC doesn't have a homicide rate of 6.0. It was 4.0 last year and so far about the same this year.

Shops and department stores close 8pm to 9pm. Pubs close between 11pm and midnight. Bars between 1am and 2am. Clubs around 4am. There are several 24 hr convenience shops and all night restaurants.

Depending on the day, you'll often find large crowds drifting around the West End hubs well after midnight.

When TfL switches to 24 hr Tube operations on weekends in 2015, it's likely that there will be more demand for 24 hr services, shops and restaurants.
