You have been to The Galapagos Islands? How'd you get there? How much did you spend?

Very barren, beautiful in a savage sort of way, the wind is like nothing most people will have experienced ( it can almost feel like your face is being sandblasted).

When I was there it was cold but not horribly so ( apart from said winds)and there was a mixture of fierce rain but also some amazing sunshine which I had not expected. You do feel like you are at the end of the world. Scenery wise a lot of it reminded me of Scotland , and bits of the Lofoten Islands and Chile I suppose.

Lots of seabirds and seals and penguins. And thousands of rabbits... ( which have caused a lot of damage to the ecosystem since being introduced).

The French scientific base in "Port aux Francais" was actually quite comfortable and a very convivial place.

I taught English for a year at a university in Guayaquil, Ecuador. At the end of the year before I left Ecuador I visited the Galapagos Islands. My trip was arranged by a local Ecuadorian travel agency with the help of an Ecuadorian friend.

Central Australia, or almost anywhere in Australia away from coastal areas or the Murray-Darling basin.

Um, I don't really goto overpopulated areas or isolated areas.

I think the most isolated area is the west coast of donegal near the Atlantic ocean?

Or maybe North Dakota? We drove from Minneapolis airport to Winnipeg that way and there was not very many houses at all.

Change the question to the lower 48 US states and see what you'd get for answers.

The San Blas Islands on the Caribbean side of Panama and Pinas Bay, Panama right near the Colombian border on the Pacific side. Also the uninhabited islands in the southern portion of the Bahamas. Crossing the Caribbean on a 60' boat can make you feel out in the middle of nowhere as well.

The Galapagos Islands are like Madagascar, another world. It's amazingly cool for being near the equator due to the ocean currents.

Another fun fact, the Galapagos penguin occasionally ventures north of the equator.
