I have already explained it several times in the last three days.
Most Spaniard people are not corrupt, but main politicians, so that's why people dislike huge gambling resorts so much, which can result in many harmful consequences for our society.
What about United States? Is it a corrupt country or not?
I wasn't really asking a question i was kind of just making a statement, no the American people are too hard on the country and our president, the united states is not corrupt at all, maybe except for that NSA crap.
Take for granted that politicians from Nevada or Macao are much more corrupt than Spaniards ones, because they have made possible these stupid megalomaniac resorts of pathological gambling and large-scale crime.
All we wanna do is change the production model to a technologically advanced industry, as Germany or The Netherlands have.
Still on the bright side, there are some opportunities for Dwarfs at London's Hippodrome Casino, and any vertically challenged Spaniards can apply under EU rules.
Because it's ugly and a monument to ignorance.

In any case, Adelson's mistake was believe that Spain is more corrupt than it actually is, and thought he could buy politicians at any price. You got to be kidding Spain is over 25% and continues to rise, USA is at 7.0% and is falling quickly never mind that but the economy is booming from jobs to gas and oil, crime is the lowest since 1960s, yeah we are really corrupt:/

Maybe it's hard to believe, but not everyone is interested in this type of investment. If people in Spain have this type of mindset then things will never change

People in most European countries probably have the same type of mindset.
We don't want to break down our laws because a multimillonaire corrupt try to impose on us huge resorts, which implied weird laws that affect our social weel-being.

If you actually got on a Las Vegas bus. Got to a bad neighborhood and got fleeced you demonstrate just how dumb some people get when visiting.
There are no real ghettos in Las Vegas. The bad areas, which do exist, appear quite nice and the primary perpetrators are white people with drug problems.
Well over half the city is less than 20 years old. It is indistinguishable from any nice southern CA suburb.
Macau is a chinese/european hybrid urban disaster saved by gaming.
I know what I saw...I'm betting whoever showed you Vegas, if you have indeed been, conveniently side-stepped those areas...

Well if you love Vegas I can see why you'd deride a place with real culture.
Hopefully we can end thise nonesense comparison between Macau and Vegas. Macau produces $40 billion a year in gaming revenues. Las Vegas, $7 billion. It's easy to see who is better. The only way Macau will be a disaster if it squanders its gambling wealth on white elephant projects and entitlements.
What is the real object of EuroVegas? It's to make money, not enhance Spanish culture. It's not something Spaniards would really want to do if they had a choice. But with official unemployment nearly 30% (meaning real unemployment and underemployment are much higher), they don't have much of a choice. Their hole is not something they can easily dig themselves out of through traditional industries and with the Euro as their currency, they don't get the trade benefit of depreciation. If they need to build another Macau in their country then so be it.

It has been explained tens of times along the thread, Mr. Adelson has tried to force Spain's government to change legislation in his favor. I can understand why most Spanish I know were against this.

No. In Spain many people work under the table to avoid to pay taxes. The real unemployment is 5% lower the official one.

My point is unemployment is a proxy. Even if you are correct, 25% unemployment is still too high, is not enough to sustain European-style prosperity and will take decades to get out of. Those people who work under the table are not predominantly earning high 5-digits.

We have high unemployment rate because the bursting of our own real state bubble in 2008, so is an incredibly huge mistake to try to relaunch economic activity by another hazardous and speculative short them profit, which only benefit our politicians and few powerfull businessmen as Sheldon Adelson.
Is a bad idea to put all the eggs in one basket by building a huge resort and neglecting the rest of our own territory!
I wish to emphasise that Las Vegas Sand was almost brankruptcy in autumn 2008. Las Vegas city itself was on the brink of becoming a bankrupt city as Detroit is, so who want something like this in its own country?
Nobody explicitly rejects casinos in Spain as we already have some small of them in big cities. All we ask is that we don't want huge gambling resorts, and they must conform to spanish and european legal framework.
