Were countries like India, mainland China, and the African countries basically stuck in the 19th century throughout century 20 or did they reflect the same trends too?

India is one nation where dress for a lot of people, at least women, still seems traditional.

60,s = arrival of national tv , begining of the troubles in northern ireland which impacted on the south , the arms trial, which revealed a future prime minister was involved in trying arm the IRA

70,s = becoming a member of the EEC which completley transformed the nations economy , especially agriculture , endless industrial strife towards the end of this decade

80,s = while most countries were booming , ireland spent the most of this decade in rescession due to political paralysis as a result of a poorly matched coalition goverment , signing of the anglo irish agreement which marked the begining of the end of the troubles in northern ireland

90,s = the celtic tiger economy was born , peace in northern ireland was cemented by way of the good friday agreement in 1998

00,s = started off well and everyone thought the path to riches was in bricks and mortar , ended horribley , the worst part is the political party who engineered the bust are now the most popular party in the country according to polls

people never learn

was watching an interview - chat between former british PM harold wilson and winston churchill jnr from 1977 on bbc parliment the other night , the conversation turned to china and the soviet union and whether china was any kind of a threat

churchill delivered an astonishing fact , the ratio of millitary power between the soviet union and china is 100:1
