Generally, if I spend enough time there to get to know it, I learn to like it.

I usually avoid big cities. These are not so bad:
Seoul
Buenos Aires
Istanbul
Lagos
Paris

Unter ten million:
Hanoi
Santiago
Bangkok
Khartoum
Medellin

Over a million, metro, probably, I'm not going to look them up:
Tananarive, Madagascar
Asuncion, Paraguay
Valparaiso/Vina del Mar, Chile
Douala, Cameroon
Isfahan, Iran

Proper cities under a million:
Latakia, Syria
Rijeka, Croatia
Sucre. Bolivia
Puerto Montt, Chile
Ioannina, Greece
Savannakhet. Laos
Salto, Uruguay
Bukavu, DRCongo
(I can't decide which ones to strike out.)

Very small towns:
Endau, Malaysia
Mopti, Mali
Likoma, Malawi
Gilleleje, Denmark
Dabo, Indonesia
