Get your information, then get your facts straight, and then I'll talk to you. Until then you are just coming off as very foolish and ignorant of our country.

By the way, I have no desire to live in a socialist country. I'm all for free enterprise. Those who work hard and smart will succeed. The rest will just have to figure it out.

About the apartment I was comparing without subsides. Here in the US you can get section 8 and pay nothing for housing. Should I compare that person with someone in Europe who doesn't

I also never said the US is the only country with tax credits.
If it doesn't take these things into account for the US, the same is true for the other countries as well so it doesn't really matter.

I also never compared Mississippi with Luxembourg, I said Europe. The city of Anchorage Alaska is almost twice the size on the country of Luxembourg. Next you going to say I compared Mississippi with the Vatican.
You said people in Mississippi were wealthier than people in Europe (see post #84). Luxembourg is in Europe.

Many of the poorest states in the US (Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, Arkansas) have less than 5 million people.

Take a single person in Mississippi making the state per capita income average of 20,000

Take a single person in Finland making the country per capita income average of 36,000

After cost of living and taxes there really not much difference in terms of income!!!!!!!!
I was not comparing those US states to any countries in Europe. I was merely using them as an example of smaller states within the US that are not automatically wealthy because they a have lower population. Later I mentioned Ireland and Iceland.

Again, the GDP per capita adjusted for cost of living in Finland is around $36,000. I provided the data in one of my previous posts. I don't know where you get the $20,000 from but it's BS. Education and health care are also huge factors in the cost of living and Finnish people get it virtually for free (hence the higher taxes). You are only talking about the cost to people but not the benefits. People wouldn't put up with high taxes if they got nothing in return.

Mississippi is the poorest state in the USA. THAT IS WHY THIS THREAD IS BULL CRAP!!!!!!!

Read the original post for this thread from the guy from Brasil and this is why I'm fighting ignorance.
Why are some Americans so offended when people point out the less flattering aspects of your country? Are you denying that these ghettos and tent cities exist? I don't get the impression from the OP that he thinks these places are rampant, he's just surprised that they exist at all in one of the wealthiest countries in the world (and so am I, to be honest). Everyone knows that the vast majority of Americans are nowhere near this level of poverty, that's not the issue. I personally don't understand why Americans are not more concerned about the enormous income inequality in their country (the highest of the Western world) but I guess this is a cultural difference.

Yes it isnt for everyone but the debate was if its possible for everyone to attend those universities. I'm sorry but you are not leading in technology, what ever that means. And yes I realise that not everyone is suffering, but its definately related to one's family roots.

I know that's the impression you would get from the American and British media but that's not the reality at all. The option of leaving the Eurozone, let alone the EU, was never on the table at all. Only the right-wing and left-wing extremists in certain countries ever suggested this but it was never a serious consideration. The EU and Eurozone are more closely integrated now than ever.

The US and UK have been predicting the EU's downfall for decades. Take their negative reporting with a grain of salt.

No one should bring a child into this world expecting others to support it. Period.

Many of the people using food stamps keep having kids they can't afford. It's becoming increasingly difficult to convince the average tax payer that they should continue to foot the bill for the irresponsible choices of others.

Why are people having children that they can't provide for?
And there are posters here claiming that the homeless are better off in Brazil than America. So if your family is being turned away from a homeless shelter in a country that is supposed to be the world wealthiest country, says so much about the country.

Who ever said the US is the worlds wealthiest country? Not I. We aren't even in the top 5.

By the way, my family isn't homeless. We aren't wealthy, but we are far from homeless.

In your country you could get fired in the blink of an eye. Then what? Children should live under the bridge with their parents?

Responsible people have skills that will allow them to find new jobs and savings that will tide them over until they do before they bring a child into this world. They will live in homes that they can afford on one parents income. The taxpayers should not be burdened by irresponsible choices that others make.
