On this short list of events of 1964 what would you put as the top story. I remember at that time being a teenager, only the Beatles would have been important to me sadly..now Id say Nelson Mandela.

For me, Beatlemania defined 1964, but it's from a pop-cultural bias. The Beatles became popular worldwide not just the US, all those other things were specific to the US or other countries while the Beatles were global.
