In Asia - the Times Square would be Bukit Bintang. Kuala Lumpur. Eateries are open 24/7 all over the city.
Times Square is a filthy, grotty, overrated, disneyfied theme park with very little in the way of redeeming features aside from the childish/imbecilic fascination some have when seeing lots of flashing lights. There's very little thought, elegance, subtlety or simple taste put into the arrangement of the led screens (formerly neon displays) aside from the fact that there are simply masses of screens.
If one could draw an analogy between makeup and advertising displays, Piccadilly Circus and the Quadrant would be this:
Shibuya would be this:
And Times Square would be this:
Ay caramba.
In other words, there is nowhere else in the world like Times Square; and that's a good thing.

Shibuya is pretty impressive. I like it more than Times Square, but Times Square happens to be my least favourite part of Manhattan. The Shibuya area was a neat place when I visited in 95.
Im guessing that in Buenos Aires it would be the Obelisco/Av Corrientes area, with all that neon signs and lights and people walking around. But of course its nothing like times square
there are hundreds of obelisks around the world, and first ones were constructed in Antique Egypt thousands of years ago, how on earth would that be a copy of washington?? lol
In any case, washington, BA and many other cities copied the egiptians.

i know just being a goof, Buenos Aires looks nice though, cool pix.
This is a pretty typical day at Dundas Square when the weather is warm. Even in the dead of winter it's still quite bustling.
