Brazil more gay friendly than the US? Interesting...
Homosexuality in Brazilian culture is actually surprisingly distinct from the way things are in North America and Western Europe. As such, it can sometimes be difficult to compare, but I'm not surprised to see it listed as such.

Laws in Latin America regarding homosexuality seem surprisingly liberal. Dunno if this accurately reflects the views of the populace though.

Cool, but isn't 2017 a bit late? I mean, shouldn't it be 2016?

Btw this list is a mess.

What do you think this is? Sweden? Germany? Oh no, in this country things take time.

Well I don't know your legislature so I can't judge. I just feel like since it's just 2014 now(at the end though), so maybe 2015 or 2016 would make more sense.

Yes, but this is just the proposal if the law should be changed. Now the lawmaking only begins, nothing has been decided yet. And the State lawyers must handle the matters in the order they are handed to them, and they have a lot in the queue (we're in the middle of a total national welfare and healthcare renovation), not forgetting the debt crisis (national debt second highest since 1944).

And now the Parliament goes on holiday, return sometimes in January, then the election campaign begins, we get a new government after tough negotiation, oh, then it's summer, and so on... It will be autumn 2015 before anyone is even there to press any button.

http://www.spartacusworld.com/gaytravelindex.pdf

Here's what they found.

The 5 best:
Sweden
Belgium
France
Netherlands
UK

The 5 worst (note that the list omits Uganda, which would probably score extremely badly):
Iran
UAE
Russia
Jordan
Jamaica

The US scored #38 overall, tied with Mexico and Italy, but they point out that there is a lot of variation within the US; the best places (DC, Massachusetts, New York) score on a level equivalent to NL or France, while the worst ones (Alabama, North Carolina) are on a par with Poland and India.

What do you think? Does this list accurately reflect the climate towards gays in your country and/or state?
I'm pretty sure in Kenya, or some other uncivilized African culture, you can get the death penalty for being gay! How can someone be persecuted for something their born with?!

Argentina and Spain with -1 for Locals Hostile and Brazil with 0?

Now that's a big joke.

This list is full of mistakes.

More than 300 homosexuals were murdered in Brazil in 2013.
