I'm Canadian and have known my blood type since my mother told me when I was young. A+
Are you sure she was right, and that you remember correctly? If you need a transfusion, do you want them to just give you A+ on your say so, or would you like them to check your blood and verify that first?

They always check your blood first. Whenever someone is receiving blood, they will always, always draw a sample first. BIMBAM could scream "I'm A+!!!" till he's blue in the face, and they aren't going to take his word for it.
I wonder if a vampires would be able to tell your blood type just by taste? Kind of like how wine experts can tell a lot about a wine just by tasting it. That would make a good skit lol.
Well, TrueBlood comes in various blood type "flavors," so I suppose the answer is yes.
Yes I know and most of people here in Spain know it, I have found very few ones that don't know it, I think it is more or less important.
I have heard also that in each continent majorities are different, is that true?
U.S. citizens are historically a 'mind your own business' kind of people and as a standard don't want any kind of information regarding themselves to be recorded by any government agency or for other cause. Liberals will dispute that standard.
Should an emergency require a blood transfusion it would be the responsibility of the medical personnel to confirm blood type before making a transfusion. Should they fail to do so and result in negative results then they have set themselves up for a lawsuit. U.S. citizens are also a litigious kind of people.
OTOH, a recent TV production of 'Combat Resuce' shows the USAF Helicopter Rescue guys with patches on their arms showing name, blood type, and any known drug allergies. I have known my blood type from time to time but today have no idea what it might be. Should a person be unconscious and require medial attention, it wouldn't matter what the patient may know about himself, he sure as hell ain't telling.
So in non-Asian countries, do people know because of medical reasons (ie for transfusions)? Yes, in the USA, the doctors would NEVER take your word for it if you told them your blood type before getting a transfusion. Someone remembering incorrectly would cause catastrophic results. They will either check or give you a neutral blood type (if there is no time to check).
Im argentinian, knew my blood type since forever (B plus) and, from the very few conversations i had about this in my life, it seems people know too. But of course i dont know if most people know it, since "whats your blood type?" conversation its one NEVER comes up .
Don't know how many Australian's know their blood type. I know my own blood type is A but not sure whether +/-
