I have never gone without healthcare coverage in my life. When I was growing up, I had healthcare through my father's employer. Once I got a job, I had healthcare through my own employer.
I don't get why this is so complicated for people - since it's very simple stuff.
Since you have all figured out what does one do when the lose their job have been looking for a year lose their UI and have no health insurance.............is that so simple you can answer it for me?
I have no complaints whatever about the country itself but it seems to me that the government is doing its damnedest to come off its wheels, regardless of who is doing the driving. The people in the U.S. are absolutely great in their ethic and diversity.
Given an opportunity to live in a foreign country, I'd want that to be as independently funded. Not necessarily rich, just funded. I'd try to live in different countries for allowed periods of time then move to another country for a while. Until I could return to or pass through some country I'd been in before. That is, I would like to hang out in the Euro countries, mild weather dependent.
I was a military kid, as were most of my friends in my youth. And while we lived over there for only a few years, those were the years during which I had no roots. So I have itchy feet and after a while any where I just want to move somewhere else.
The vast majority of Europeans, unlike Americans, have pretty much zero interest in the failed and selfish ideology of Libertarianism. Every conversation I've had with a European about the subject brings on derision. Good luck espousing your Texas based right wing ideology among Europeans. They won't buy it. They believe in the concept of civilized government there. They believe in the concept of government taxing the successful and wealthy to help out the less fortunate so the whole society in general does better. I can't imagine you would find many compatriots there.

And the day the United States gets universal health care, you people will still complain complain complain......
glad i don't live my life being so negative.
Never gonna happen until that blessed day the US breaks up into smaller countries. My region will be free of the right wing extremists. Can't wait.

If it is so simple why do so many tens of millions have no coverage. Why have so many millions had to file bankruptcy because of healthcare they had to pay for? You are fortunate not to have had to go without health insurance. Stop looking down your nose at people who don't have that.

I'm not independently wealthy, so I need a job to live. For me, having money is the very foundation of living. If I didn't have a stable job, then I'd do everything in my power to secure one. This includes going back to school and getting better education, sending out hundreds of resume applications, moving to another city that has a better job market, changing careers, etc.
Actually, I did a lot of these things earlier in my life. It's called hustling.
I see A LOT of Americans vehemently complaining about their country on C-D. Is there another nation you would rather live in?
No.
I enjoy traveling to other countries and experiencing different cultures, but I love the US in general, and Texas in particular, and while I respect and appreciate other countries, I intend to live here till I draw my last breath.

Yup and when that happens you'll still find something to whine about
