I doubt that's true. The stereotype of Spanish people (and Southern Europeans in general) being lazy is pretty much universal, I think

Here are some stereotypes I can think of from a Dutch perspective:

Belgians: dumb, introvert, polite, under-achieving, civilized, "burgundian" lifestyle, have an inferiority complex towards us
Germans: cold, hard-working, efficient, reliable, look down on us
British: good sense of humour, nationalistic, anti-European, classy and sophisticated / chavs and hooligans
French: civilized, arrogant, male chauvinism, hold on to traditions and customs
Spanish: lazy, macho men, feminine women
Italians: religious, family-oriented, corrupt
Russians: alcoholics, xenophobic, anti-democratic, cultured and intellectual
Scandinavians: very much like us: progressive, open-minded, egalitarian, reliable, reserved
Americans: gun nuts, religious, fat, nationalistic, believe they're #1 in everything, friendly, optimistic, ignorant about the rest of the world, competitive, capitalistic

These stereotypes I've often heard about Dutch people: stingy (don't like to spend money), drug addicts, open-minded, progressive, arrogant

Some stereotypes seem rather contradictory

Netherlands: stoners, foul-tasting food, clogs and windmills
Belgium: incredibly dull, a bizarre obsession with mayonnaise
Spain: very lazy, work-shy (unless it involves selling things on the black market)
Italy: aggressive drivers, hairy men, corrupt government, dirty polluted cities
France: people lacking decent hygiene standards, too much cologne, good food, but also smelly food that is barely edible (i.e snails, horses, frogs legs)
Germany: bad food, fat people, too much beer, very post-industrial and ugly cities
Sweden: tall, blonde sex fiends
Norway: Oil millionaires
Finland: suicidal drunks with anger issues
Denmark: like Finland, but minus the suicidal part
Ireland: highly religious drunks who beat their wives and hate the English
New Zealand: poor cousins to Australia, teenager mothers and drunken young men
Australia: boisterous male population who are racist and hate anything non-Australian
US: fat, stupid and arrogant, too loud and unsophisticated
Canada: boring and friendly
Russia: racist, xenophobic, homophobic, tall, sexy and inevitably blonde

I'm a sophisticated mountain hillbilly My favorite so far. I'd add the love of beer, though.
