Are there any twin countries? Size and scope do not matter as much as heritage and present culture. Can you name any twin countries in this regard?

Republic of Congo and Democratic Republic of Congo. Their capitals are connected by ferry just a few minutes across.

Rwanda and Burundi are very similar, culturally, historically, geographically. Both former Belgian territories, inhabited by the same tribal groups.

Haiti and Dominican Republic share an island, about equally.

Norway, Sweden and Denmark understand each other's languages fairly well, and from time to time in the past, were parts of each other's kingdoms.

You cant dispute Australia and NZ, however most people seem to ignore the fact that there is well over 1000 miles of ocean between the two countries (Geographically Darwin is closer to Shanghai than it is to Auckland) and almost 1/4 of NZ's population are Maori or other native pacific islanders, they have a large cultural influence on the country.

The two are possibly not as closely linked as most would think.
