Do you have any foreign ancestor?
Where are your origins from?
Do you consider Half-something even if your percentage of mixture is quite small?
Are there people here who is purely from their own country? I think it is my case but I meet people who are mixed everyday, I don't have too many information about myself anyway. The thread is not only about ethnic mixtures also nationalities even if they are very similar.
Yes true we all have foreign ancestors but some of us don't know about them which is my case, I was asking about generations we have information about
I'm Australian, born in Singapore, as far as I know most of my ancestors on both sides originally came from Fujian province, in Southeastern China. What about yours?
Most of my ancestors were either from Moravia, Croatia-Slavonia or Upper Austria. They all settled in Upper Austria around 1880. I don't know anything about those people except for the Moravian side. My great grandfather was supposedly the last one in the family who was fluent in Czech. My great grandmother grew up in a German speaking family in Zagreb (Agram).
Paternal grandfather: Ancestors came to Virginia from England, about 1720
Paternal grandmother: Ancestors came from Ireland, mid 1800s.
Maternal grandfather: Spoke only Lithuanian, but had surname unknown in Lithuania (or anywhere else).
Maternal grandmother: Spoke only Lithuanian, but had surname presumed to be of Polish origin.
My paternal grandfather came to Argentina when he was 13 with his family from Zhmerinka, Ukraine. This was circa 1900. At roughly the same time, my paternal grandmother came with her family from a spot between Poland and Germany (it was part of either country depending on the time). Both of them were Jews.
My maternal grandmother was born in Argentina in 1913. Her parents (my great-grandparents) came to Argentina from Italy circa 1890. Both arrived independently with their families though, and they met here. One of them, from Modena (north), and the other from L'Aquila (center).
My maternal grandfather was born in Argentina and his mother was a full Mapuche-Araucanian Indian. My grandfather himself is most probably a mestizo but we don't know much about his father. So depending on that I am one fouth or one eighth Mapuche.
From my mother's part, they were Catholics, which is the norm here.
Paternal grandparents were from Spain.. and by all accounts my grandmother was very well off... not that I would know.. and she was a Ruiz related to Picasso...
