That makes you eligble for subsidized student canteens (full meal 2.60€) and free student health care. Being a permanent student also makes you eligble for subsidized student housing, which is a lot cheaper than apartment from the free market. There's not many countries around that can offer all this to you. The 7k a year is meant for your financial security, so you don't have to scavenge for food in dumpsters.

To get in via a workplace, you'll have to have a degree in something, otherwise it's very difficult, next to impossible. You have to be a scientist, specialist, athlete, artist, top or middle management, reverend, reporter or an employee of an international profit or non-profit organization. And you have to be recruited before you arrive. And you're competing against all EU applicants, and destined to lose.

The student way is the best. But as you don't need a visa, you just need something important to do here.

It carries a tremendous weight. You've must have heard wrong. 85% of the population under 65 years speaks English on at least an acceptable level. In cities probably 95% of the population who you deal with. Schools have completely English speaking programs. Nearly none of the students arriving here know more than 5 words of Finnish, it's not a problem. Believe me, I've dealt with foreign students and exchange students.

well.. sadly after looking into finland i noticed something that doesn't bode well in my favor.

"As a full-time foreign degree student with a student residence permit you can generally work up to 25 hours a week during the academic year and full time during vacation periods. Please note that it is difficult to find part-time work in Finland. The unemployment rate is high in Finland, and most employers demand knowledge of Finnish and/or Swedish. As a student you should therefore not count on finding part-time work, or other financial assistance in Finland."

knowing that i would have to work in while studying to maintain financial "security".. this wouldn't work :/

Sounds like you are rejecting whole countries, simply because their immigration website is not up to standard, or because it is as hot as New Zealand, so I doubt if I would pass you any advice even if I had any.

if i cant get proper information how could i simply say "yep, that's where im going"... the site doesnt have important stuff related to immigration..or much of anything for that matter... if you're gonna take a big step in your life im sure you would wanna be informed before doing so.

as for the heat.. i have a serious problem with heat mate.. no matter how much i hydrate myself i end up in front of a toilet on my knees because of the heat... i stated that i get, just didnt want to go in details.

Yeah, you went to the right place. If the information is not on the immigration website, just post a query on a moronic forum, and base your "big step in your life" on opinions of people who have never even been there.

Whatever you do, don't contact the consulate directly for any information they might have prepared for prospective immigrants. I bet there is a Portuguese Consulate in or near the city you are in. Even if all the necessary information was clearly posted on the website, it would just tell you what documents to take to the same Consulate that you refuse to contact. They've prpbably even got a phone, and I bet they speak Brazilian..

Portugal is hotter than New Zealand, so why did you even look at their website? By the way, it took me about a minute to find that in Dunedin, New Zealand, the daytime high temperature never went above 22-C (73-F) during the whole month of last February, the hottest month down there. But you've already blown it off as being "too hot" for a person who somehow survives all day, all year, in Brazil.

I'm not sure where you got your info on this, but NZ is anything but hot.

hey, im asking for suggestions so i can look into the country before having to deal with consulates/government... if you look at the locations from the folks that posted you will see that they kinda know their country or have an idea of how it is on the countries around them...

clearly you've taken some sort of offence with me asking for suggestions, but hey... if you got nothing better to add to the conversation other than that.. don't take the effort to write another comment because all i was expecting from this thread was "look into "finland" "portugal" "whereverthe****nia" so i could make my research easier when it comes to looking at individual countries.. just because a country is suggested doesn't mean i will go to it, **** look at finland for example, it sounded great at first but after a lil research it turns out it wasn't... but i first had the thought cross my mind because it was a suggestion from someone that lives there.

as for the location of my suggestion seeking.. this is a forum, a forum about the world....
"forum
noun
1. a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged."

....

as for the new zealand comment... my sister who went there for her honeymoon claimed it was unbearably hot..... now that you guys keep saying that it isnt.. there is no point to repeating yourselves now is there?
