Italy, because I'm descendant of italians. But I also would live in Spain without any regret.

Spain is a much nicer country and Spaniards are very friendly.

I won't visit Italy again unless I have to.

I think Italy might be a bit more culturally appealing as a whole to me, due to its more prominent classical legacy and better food (in my opinion!)- though I would certainly view Spain as quite fascinating as well, though, and would love to travel to Granada, Barça, Segovia, San Sebastián ... Italy has somewhat cooler climates and more rain overall, but Spain has lowland areas in Galicia/Asturias with mild summers, which lowland Italy lacks...

I feel that Italy extends northward more than Spain does (Milan and Venice- even Florence are north of say, Bilbao)... Italy may be more of a "core European" country along with France and Germany than Spain would be... I think Italy is more vibrant and colorful as well overall! Look at how colorful Cinque Terre and Burano are! But southern Spain has a more prominent Moorish legacy that Italy mostly lacks, and I would find the Sagrada Familia to be more appealing than the Duomo, as I prefer Gothic Architecture (especially in Northern France though) to Baroque ... so it's tough and I didn't vote!

Spain. I speak Spanish better than I speak Italian. Both have beautiful cities with plenty of culture, but Italy doesn't have an answer for the vibrancy and city life of Madrid with the amazing public transportation. And I'd guess Madrid has more prominence in the business world, being one of the largest cities in Europe, the largest on the Iberian Peninsula, and a destination for workers from Latin America, leading to it being a hub for Latin American business as well. Neither is really that well off financially, but I think Spain show more promise. Both are massively corrupt, but Spain does a better job of blending corruption with efficiency. Italy is just one giant corruption everywhere you look. Which, in some ways, is endearing, but I'd imagine it would get old after a while and Spain would seem more appealing.

I can't imagine myself living in either, but if I had no choice... I'd choose Italy.
