China is what is known as a Potemkin village, a paper tiger really. I can't wait to see the looks on people's faces when the whole People's Republic comes tumbling down by 2020.

I think so. The thing that slowed them down to complete stagnation was economic socialism/communism. Now that they use a capitalist economic system, they are progressing very rapidly.

It's unlikely to become a superpower in the same way the word was used to describe the US, the Soviet Union and the British Empire. It doesn't seem like there will be any immediate superpowers anymore but rather there will be several great powers instead.

Well, superpowers is just a term in relation to other countries. The US didn't really go down so much as that a lot of other countries started developing.

Most Chinese are still poor with low level of education. It'll take another generation or two.

I do think this is a population with high IQs and high ambitions. Their culture and ideology need some modification.

This. There will be a couple of great powers - but not one superpower overshadowing everybody else.
