LOL, to those who picked Mogadishu. Not a sprawly city at all and very walkable.

My vote would be for Norilsk, Russia. It is freezing cold almost year round, and is extremely polluted.

Belfast? Mexico City? Jo'burg?

Lol why is Bogota and Medellin hyphenated? They're 8 hours away from each other. The creator of this thread must be American. Dozens of US cities are in fact more dangerous than either Bogota or Medellin.

Although homicide is only a small part of the crime story and is generally the least likely as even in high homicide rate countries, murder is rare and even less so for temporary visitors. Bogota keeps registering a lower rate year on year, Finance Colombia Homicides in Bogotá Fell by 9.9% in First Four Months of 2017

If this tendency continues Bogota is looking at a lower rate than 15 per 100k and lower than all the following US cities...

Washington DC, Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Memphis as well as the usual major cities that frequent the table; New Orleans, Newark, etc.

Some of these poll options, lol. The highest-crime cities in Central America should deserve some mention.

Does that include metropolitan Bogota? Because when you include he Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia etc. metro areas their murder rates don't break 10/100,000. In America the poorest areas aren't in the city center but often, the vast majority live outside the city center. For example Atlanta has a population of 500,000 people but its metropolitan area is 6 million people. Memphis on the other hand has 600,000 people and its metropolitan area is slightly over 1 million. New Orleans is similar. So Memphis is actually the most dangerous city in America and has a murder rate of 13/100,000 people.

From that table only five American cities have a higher murder rate, and three of them are in Puerto Rico. Pine Bluff is the most dangerous area in the 50 states with 20/100,000 followed b New Orleans with 17/100,000.
