Where'd you pick? I had a great time in Russia, but I wouldn't live there long-term due to weather (maybe near the black sea is better). Cape Town is great, but I wouldn't want to work locally there. Probably can't go wrong in Mexico City. How would you rank the cities you've lived in so far @russiamoscow?
I lived in New York, LA, Zurich, Florence, Rome, Amsterdam and a couple more cities. What are some more exciting countries one could move to as adventurous guy in his late 20s...Don't necessarely like Asian countries: Hongkong, Singapore, Kualalumpur didn't really appeal to me...Any ideas?
I guess not west Europe, cities such as London Paris will be close to Amsterdam / Rome / Zurich / NY since it's western like...
For an adventure, I would go to Buenos Aires.
Just a personal feeling
Then check out Russia. But if you find Buenos Aires and Rio third worldish it is probable that you will have the same problem with Russia.
Russia is not wealthy either. Its economy is smaller than South Korea. It not up to standards of Finland regarding technology. Even with military spending even Saudi Arabia exceeds it.

Yeah Russia is third world no doubt. Median salary is like $400 a month now or something. Should be a bit higher in Moscow and St Petersburg however. You don't have to worry about crime in Russia either.

Each continent has its own kind of big city. In Europe, you'll think in history and beauty when talking about big cities. In Asia, it's about modernity and skyscrapers. In USA/Canada/Australia, they often don't have the feel of "big city", with a compact downtown surrounded by miles and miles of suburbia (NYC is an exception). In Latin America, you'll think about mix of urban tissues and contrasts. In Africa, you'll think about poverty - except for South Africa, Namibia and Botswana, even the richer zones look poor.
