Actually it's still G8 since the EU is now fully represented at the "G7" meeting.
The GDP of EU (minus Germany/France/UK/Italy) is US$6.4 trillion in 2013 versus Russia's US$2.1 trillion.

So they really should call it EU-NA-J for European Union+ Northern America+ Japan or EUNAJ. It would be less insulting now that other regions of the world are on a similar footing with the 7 great powers of four decades ago.

It's kind of an ugly acronym, but I am not sure of a better one. Possibily EUNAN where "Nippon" is used instead of Japan.

The Russians don't care about the G8, it's the G20 that's important now. In fact being associated with the G8 is probably a negative thing in this age, it's synonymous with declining western nations while the G20 is for the rising future world leaders.
I think Russia would rather be in the G20

I agree that G8 is nothing more than an annual gathering of random chit-chat.

Then I tried to figure out what makes G20 so relevant, then nothing came into my mind. What's so important about G20? I'm curious. It seems about as relevant as...well, G8.

Westerners on the street didn't plot invading other countries, the top 0.1% of society did. Don't confuse what governments do with what the people want, they are not mutual

please read all these morons here, the average westerner is pretty much a brainwashed idiot with a voting right!!

look at americans for example, most of them cannot find their own state on a US map but firmly believe their country is bringing democracy to oil right third world countries by bombarding them to ashes, do you think the average Australian or Canadian is any smarter? hahahahaha and let's not even talk about Europeans (I told a German woman bashing the US and walmart, they have walmart you have tesco and IKEA) you're the same ****, she looked at me offended but I am not particularly polite with arrogant western idiots!

I know the western world too well, its hypocrisy, double standards, and MASSIVE IGNORANCE towards anything that is no the US and Europe
