If history has taught us anything, it would be that no empire lasts forever. The United States, will likely not stay on top forever, but how much longer do we have?

So, what's your best guess on who will usurp the position, be it one country or a multitude of countries?

How will this go down?

When will this happen?

I'm not sure exactly, I think America will remain the sole power in my lifetime, but a lot could happen if Sarah Palin was elected president lol.

Agreed, any more Democrats in the presidency will likely decimate us.

I was actually pointing toward Sarah Palin would lead us to oblivion within our lifetime. We would probably have gone to war with Syria, Iran, North Korea, Russia and still be fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan if she hypothetically was president.

I think the real reason for the downfall of the US would be stretching ourselves too much across the globe. Almost every major power was eventually brought down because they stretched themselves too thin. We need to start minding our own business.

That's rude to say, there are lots of threads I'm not interested in, but you don't see me going into them to post "who cares" grow up!

When the US dollar loses its status as world reserve currency (according to some, a process that has already started) you can say goodbye to the privileged position the US enjoys as well as the quality of life its citizens take for granted.

I think the current crisis in the Ukraine proved that the US isn't the world's sole world power anymore.
