Not to be a snob or anything but your benchmarks for good quality music are not exactly high. If you're passionate about music and exploring new things, ditch MTV and look for what's out there than worrying about what's popular in your country. If you're open-minded you'll find some amazing music from not only the US and Britain, but the rest of the world too.

Wow... It's not like they play him on mainstream radio over here either, but that's like not knowing the Beatles

Actually not true.. I'm probably one of the rare fans of his in Singapore..

The biggest names in English or i should say American pop to be more specific over here are probably Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Katy Pery for females..Young !!!

Acts like Bon Jovi arent that popular here ..Only me...

Digressing a bit again, really age is crucial here in Singapore..

Arguabbly the most famous Singaporean ever.. Lee Kwan Yew.Hope you guys have heard his name before. Now that he is old and aged, even though he has helped to bring Singapore to what it is today.. Noboby cares about his opinions and what he says these days.

I can name a few local stars from Singapore who were popular when young now no one cares about them anymore.. But you guys wont know who these are anyway..

If Led Zeppelin decided they would tour today people would do anything to see them as well. Of course John Bonham is no longer with us but even if his son stood in people would pay any amount of money to see them.

Legends like the Rolling Stones will never have problems selling out arenas around the world.
Who is John Bonham ?

He was the drummer in Led Zeppelin. He died quite young from partying too hard.

The Beatles

Jimi Hendrix
Led Zeppelin
Deep Purple
The Grateful Dead
The Doors

There are others. But these are among the biggest names that music fans who are in the know will be familiar with.
