Pride in one's nation, whether it be in it's history, it's people, it's accomplishments. For people who were born and who live in the country they have these feelings for, this question is directed at you:
Are we even entitled to feel proud of something we had no control over, that being a nationality foisted upon us by an accident of birth?
Can national pride be lumped in with pride in your religion or your ethnicity?
The politicians invented "a national pride" to split people, get them fight to each other. So I believe love of the motherland isn't the same thing as patriotism is. If I love my motherland it doesn't mean that my nation is better than other ones. It's stupidity.

That's an interesting point and I tend to agree
I caution people from going too far and saying "Nationalism doesn't matter because all nations are equal" because not all cultures are equal.

So yes, you can feel proud of things that you can not control. I can separate being proud of my country and feeling pride in myself.
I do not however have blind pride. There are many things right now about Canada that I am not proud.
Entitled or not we do, and i don't see anything wrong with it. I think national pride is alright as long as people don't start thinking they're better than others because they come from X nation or that citizens of their nation are worth more, although in a war situation one can understand taking sides. Even if say, you have a natural affinity for athletics, a lot of that is genetics, and it's not something you can control right? None of our achievements are completely our own.
No this is tacky. I am proud to be Northern Irish but that is all. I was born here by "luck" it just happened by chance. I am not better to be born here I could've been born in a poor country so I think its pointless going around waving flags and saying how proud you are.
I think its arrogant and rude. Plus I know I am proud of where I am from and who I am so I don't need to show anyone else.
When I see people from Northern Ireland waving flags I think about how embaressed I am and that they should put the flags away and stop making mouths of themselves!! Its so cringy and makes me want to run away! Idk I don't get people here.
Actually I am not really proud to be from here but my heritage. I think Northern Irish people are loudmouth idiots with no reality. I can't be bothered with them anymore. Its so embaressing every year especially on the 12th of July. Sorry but it is just hideous and so so embaressing.
