I'm not saying that our problems don't exist and I'm aware that we have a problem with violence compared to some developed countries. But the article was flawed and it fuels propaganda (usually against Chicago, gun control and Obama). If most of our cities annexed many of their surrounding areas/suburbs, our city murder rates would be no different than Moscow, Sao Paulo, Mexico City and a few other areas.

It's politically incorrect to say but factually correct that the racial makeup of a US city is the biggest determinant of their violent crime. Cities with similar % of Europeans have similar crime as European cities...same for American cities largely Asian.

Additional factors are income levels and policing.

I think some of the difference is our right to bear arms. However, Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot and their ilk took guns to render the populace defenseless...I absolutely don't trust our leftists any more than I trust Hitler & Stalin.

The current democratic government of Germany was stricter gun laws than Nazi Germany.

Germany is basically defenseless currently and dependent on the USA to keep attackers at bay ...based on Ukraine, Syria, Egypt, etc, I wouldn't want to be in their position. I would probably trust Merkel more than Obama, Reid & Pelosi...but not enough to give her my weapons of defense.

There is one country out there that could defeat Germany in conventional warfare - the US, and both countries are part of the same military alliance. What exactly should Germany be afraid of?

Global Firepower ranks Germany 7th out of 106 nations. Sounds like they'll be okay.

What do you mean? The US is buying German, Belgium and British weapons to arm its own forces. The US is dependent on Europe instead of the other way around.

I mean that Germany has one of the largest and perhaps the most well-equipped army in the world.

Only a tiny fraction of the equipment the US military uses is European, notably the MP5 and the British 81mm mortar.

The US don't use the SS-11 or FN-FAL anymore.

Let me be the first to thank Europe for defending the USA (you saved us in WWI & II)...don't think we would be safe without that awesome military force of Europe (which is basically Russia as far as having a powerful military)
