I see a lot of whining. "Whaaaa. America doesn't do it for me. Whaaa!!". "People still voted for Bush. Whaaaa". Whatever happened to "Don't ask what your country can do, but what you can do for your country"?
Give me a break. Instead of blaming the people that voted for Bush, why don't you blame your fellow Democratic voters for not coming out in larger numbers? Why don't you blame them for not putting out a better candidate? John Kerry??? Are you kidding me?? The Dems had the 2004 Presidential race locked up and they blew it the minute Kerry was nominated. Hell, I was on the fence until they nominated him. I might have voted for Dean and I hate politicians from New England!!
The Dems should win this election as they will get many "fence sitters" to vote anything other than Republican. That being said, do you REALLY think things will be that different? The democratic-led congress has a lower rating than Bush does.
Anyway, you want to leave go ahead. America isn't the best place in the world but I don't envy the trouble you're going to go through to find your dream place to live. There are hundreds of beautiful places to live in Europe, but prepare for some serious taxation. It will be expensive but you'll just have to wait and see if it's worth it.
But the fact that he was elected at all, THAT is what I think is making people leave.
People that move because of this reason must rely on the government way too much. Well, there are plenty of socialist countries to move to so bye-bye.
I wonder if these are the same people who took their ball home with them because their team was losing the game. "I didn't get my way, so I'm leaving".
I think the only thing I would add is, for me, the disappointment in seeing my fellow Americans so mindlessly terrified. SO easy to scare into voting for this creature. I had always, unquestioningly, believed that Americans were brave!
If you were so brave, you wouldn't quit this country. You would be proactive in the next election (oh look, it's next year) to make sure you do whatever you can for your candidate. I wonder that Dem that is? Anyway, I think the Dems win this next election. BUT, you won't be here.

LOL, no kidding. As if it's any better anywhere else.

I am volunteering at the DNC, thanks. And ya know what? I owe my KIDS the best upbringing I can give them, what I owe THEM far outweighs what I owe my country.

As to the above two posters. We get it. You think leaving is a terrible idea. Duly noted. The OP was requesting information on why people are wanting to leave the US. Those of us who have, or are planning to leave, responded with our reasons. To be honest, by the sounds of you two, you're part of the reason we'd like to leave.
EDIT: Not you Morning Glory

Oooooh I'm so insulted. Hey, if you really think it's going to be better overseas...by all means, leave. Don't let the door hit you, and don't whine to us when it doesn't work out. Been there, done that. Buh-bye.

ditto. I even mentioned one of them indirectly in my previous post over on page 2.
All done with the original topic and have moved on to personal venom?
