May is usually quite good but there is never any guarantees with Scotland. The Western Highlands are some of the most beautiful scenery in the World ( the road from Lochgilphead to the White Sands of Morar is stunning) and I personally love Skye too. And it still looks good in the rain, more atmospheric and somehow more Romantic too...

Just call it Istanbul. It's rather silly to call it Constantinople.

i choose Warsaw because of the communist era. Its a very fascinating time. When Warsaw was smashed, that is history, but now that some of you mention it Krakow probably is better history wise to some degree.
Paris is nice, but the people I hear are rude, they laugh at your French, and The country side of France is much nicer, and the people their are soo much more friendly. Just what I hear... I knew someone from France, a native. She came to see the US and was staying with my neighbor who wasn't related to her. Shes from Rennes and she seemed sooo much more friendly then the people from Paris. I would much rather go to Lyons, Marseilles, Rennes, Orelans, or Toulouse then Paris.

Well, if you start in Scotland then you have some tough decisions to make: not sure if you can cover Britannia, Iberia, Italia, and some of the central European runs, even in three weeks, but not impossible if you plan it well. In some cases, you can stop for a few hours and just walk around. But, again, tough decisions. Let us know and ...
Good luck!

Certainly, Les pyrénées (name in french of the mountain) are very beautiful. Andorre la vieille sounds to have been made just for buisness, nethertheless it doesn't affect its landscape which is very very beautiful.

I'm parisian, and unfortunaly, I have to concede you're right! We are rude ! it's our way of life !

I cannot say it never happens but it's very rare I think. Actually, the french people appreciate the people who tries to speak their language.

And I'm sure she was drinking a lot ? right ? (the "bretons" are well know to be alcohol addict in France ! of course it's a joke)

Different cities, and different sizes . The problem of the french capital is the number of tourists. Some people don't like tourist, some french don't like tourist too, and all of these french live in Paris !
You're right to say the parisian are not very friendly, I cannot say the opposite, nethertheless, if you are a foreigner, if you want to understand the french culture (which is not dead ! ! ) to see what France is capable to do, the best is actually in Paris, and I don't think any city in Europe cannot really compete with Paris about museums, history, arts , culture, etc, even not London, but here, it's just my opinion. I'm sure we could find an english guy who'd say I'm wrong.... (find an english to say to a french he's wrong is always possible! )

Paris is so beautiful that it's a shame the people are not as beautiful. But, hell, they aren't even nice to each other.

Oh, well actually since I will be in London for several months, i'll visit northern England, Scotland, and Amsterdam before my Eurail Pass trip separately. Sorry, i wasn't too clear. I do agree though, it will be a VERY busy 3 weeks. I heard that some people sleep on the train to save time so i might do that a couple times. That way I can save some money and then stay at a nice hotel at the end!
But yeah, as it stands, I'll go from London to Paris, to Zurich, to Milan (only to spend the night), to Florence and Pisa, to Rome, to Venice, to Munich, to Vienna, maybe to Prague, to Berlin, to Hannover, to Brussels and back to London.

Well I agree with the comparison London-Paris; for example the Louvre beats the British Museum hands down (I guess Napoleon was a better thief than some of the British imperialist warriors, ).
But, sorry, on balance, nothing beats the Eternal City, Rome, two thousand eight hundred years and still standing!

If you do Vienna-Berlin, then Prague is on the way, so you can't miss it.
Now, considering Vienna-Prague, do not overlook the possibility of going to Trieste on your way from Venice. It is a bit out of the way, but if your interested in Hapsburg history, the comparisons between the three are quite interesting. Also worthwhile is Maximillian's villa in Miramar, just outside of Trieste.
Either way, sounds like a great trip. Enjoy!

I may be prejudiced since I lived in Germany for many years, but for my money, Munich is the best city in Europe. It's clean, beautiful, tremendous ambience and great beer.
