I am surprised people have not really mentioned Moscow.

Moscow is the biggest city in the Europe. I mean it is gorgeous!! Way underatted.
The whole central city looks like a neo-modern/gothic museum. Moscow looks so different from the rest of the European Cities.

It is a mix of old style and new style building. (Closer to Paris style)

Moscow is Huge!!

Save time and money and don't go to Madrid...........I saw that on someones list and it has to be the most overrated city in Europe. Theres nothing there, Barcelona on the other hand is great.

Thessaloniki, BY FAR, is more beautiful than vienna. Thessaloniki almost makes me want to learn greek just to move there.

It will be in the late spring if that matters. Oh, and don't include London please because that's where I'll be based. I will have a Eurail pass so alot of Eastern European countries will be out of reach-I still might be able to make it to Prague though.

This is what I would recommend:

Barcelona, Spain
Rome, Italy
Cologne, Germany
Zurich, Switzerland
Valletta, Malta
Vienna, Austria
Strassbourg, France
Munich, Germany
Florence, Italy
Heidelberg, Germany

We just visited Rome for Christmas last week. I LOVED the history! I wish (as with most cities in Europe) they would crack down on the graffiti. That spoiled the ambience for me a bit.

Get off the train in some small towns in the provinces, and see how people live outside the fast track. Walk down some streets where nobody ever sees tourists. If I listed the ten I liked best, they would all be little places like that, but I won't name them, because it doesn't matter much which you stop at.

Do you think if a traveler came here and saw only San Francisco, Denver, St. Louis, Philadelphia, New York and Boston, they would have seen America?
