In my little town in upstate New York, Hispanics from Puerto Rico are constantly bashed on and discriminated against unfortunately. Even Peurto Ricans themselves seem to hold a lot of hate towards others. No real reason. A lot of them are certainly poor but they're good people.
Are you referring to the Spanish settlers around Taos, the descendants of 18th century settlers sent by Carlos III?
Taos and the surrounding area, generally referred to as North Central New Mexico or the Northern Mountains. Also the Middle Rio Grande Valley which stretches from Soccoro, through Albuquerque, to the Santa Fe and Española area.
San Diego, California Mexicans would face the most prejudice Miami, Florida Any Non-Cuban; Any Non-Hispanic and/or any native English speaker would face the most prejudice Boston, Massachusetts Any black person would face the most prejudice New York, New York Most black people or 'black acting' hispanic would face the most prejudice Phoenix, Arizona Mexicans would face the most prejudice
As far as Boston goes, I think that Middle Easterners would face more prejudice versus black people, and even Middle Easterners don't face widespread discrimination.. Black people are pretty widely accepted by most Massachusettesanians, even out in places like Billerica.
Doesn't have to be systematic racism but prejudice as in most people in the area tend to look down upon that group, not associate with them, and associating with that group that lower your status in most circles. I would like to know if it is so bad to the point where even if the person of that ethnic appearance is a decent human being, everyone will still dislike them and refuse to associate with them.
I would like to know what area this is too. The reason I find it important to post this thread is so people of different backgrounds can know what areas of the world they will be pre-judged and face possible racism in.
here in southeastern North Carolina --
i'd say that the lumbee indians face the most acute prejudice
prejudice against blacks is not very severe, but it is very pervasive

Not sure what race you are but I am White and will say that black people have it a lot worse than any other minority group in Massachusetts. It is the same state where on a parade or something a black man was attack and killed by some flag pole (not sure how the entire story goes). There is hardly any racism towards middle eastern people in America once they assimilate, if they are more of the traditional kind then maybe.
Interesting post. As you can see the world is full of people who don't trust others. Whats new, its going to be like that until the end of time.
I think it matters a lot. For example, some races are just much better suited to live in certain areas than others. Just recently I heard the story on City Data from an indian male (thats subcontinent) who was growing up in southern california where he faced no racism and then moved to Toronto with his girlfriend (an attractive white girl). He tells me how it turned 180 and how much animosity he was receiving from the people of Toronto who aren't used to seeing white women with indians (despite there being a high population of both groups there, go figure).
I still find it weird that canadians are naming somalians and natives as the most hated group there, from what I have read and heard it is south asians in most of Canada outside of french canada.
