When did these countries become 'first world' or developed? (2013, primary school)

Brazil may be the 7th economy on the planet but is far from being "first world" or developed... Our industry faces recession over the last decade (only the car industry is wealthy, but that's mainly because our government gives it tax exemption).
The term "First World" refers to so called developed, capitalist, industrial countries, roughly, a bloc of countries aligned with the United States after World War II, with more or less common political and economic interests: North America, Western Europe, Japan and Australia.
Yes...although in some ways the quality of life in Australia, US, surpassed it and has always been ahead. US has been slipping since the 00s though.
We are not doing too badly in many recent international tables, not that I bother with international index's much, our main problem like many parts of the world being obesity.
Then again there is even some future hope in terms of tackling obesity with lower rates now among primary school children in the UK and future options including a ban on advertising foods high in saturated fat, sugar and salt before 9pm, further taxes on sugary drinks and foods to increase prices by at least 20%, a reduction in fast food outlets near schools and leisure centres, a £100m budget for interventions such as weight-loss surgery, no junk food or vending machines in hospitals or schools, food labels to include calorie information and NHS exercise programs coupled with local authority sports and leisure centres.
Yeah Hungary is more of a first world country than Chile.
Chile has a higher GDP per capita than Hungary.
