Agreed. I did miss Barcelona and other cities such as Geneve in the list as well (and voted for Vienna, too ;-).

I visited Bath a couple of years ago and found it to be rather sleepy, though beautiful none the less (although, the hostel I stayed in was extremely dirty and I had to share a room with boys...I refused to shower there-thank goodness it was only for one night).
I also thought North Umberland was very pretty. And I visited a number of places in Kent (Minster On-Sea, Rochester, Canterbury). I feel that is my favorite area in terms of aesthetic beauty (though the entire English countryside is amazing, IMHO).
Have you ever been to York? I would like to visit that city mainly for its Roman history. I understand you can still see parts of Hadrian's wall there.

York in England is a great place to visit. The wall is mostly intact and offers a nice view to the various residential areas.
While in York I discovered that the word they use for a gate is bat.
Scarborough, on the Atlantic is interesting, has a harbor, an old grand hotel, the ruin of a very large castle, and many terrific restaurants to eat fish and chips.

I voted for Berlin, but Vienna is a close 2nd. It's one of the world's most beautiful cities.

Wow! I am in love with Vienna and this post has me a little sad right now. I was just there in August (for the 2nd time). I just loved walking around the inner city. Stayed by the West Bahnhof. Loved walking down Mariahilferstrasse to the center. The Ring Strasse is amazing. The best day I've ever spent any where happened while in Vienna. I had jet leg and couldn't sleep so I woke up at 5:30 and headed out to take a little walk. I ended up walking down to Schonbrunn Palace and to my amazement, the grounds had just opened up. I was there from 6AM to 9AM and aside from a few gardeners and nordic walkers (now that is a bizarre form of exercise), I had the whole palace grounds to myself and got some amazing photos. It was just so peaceful. I just sat at the fountain in the gardens and stared at the palace. Such a beautiful and remarkable piece of architecture. Completely blows Versailles away in my opinion.
Vienna is grand, clean, beautiful, and one of the best examples of great urban planning in the world, IMO. The architecture is out of this world. The Hofburg Palace makes Buckingham look like a shack! The gardens and parks are amazing.
I heart Vienna. Paris is stunning as well, but my vote for the two most beautiful cities in Europe goes to Prague and Vienna.

Bath has beautiful architecture. The Royal Crescent must be seen. It's quite small though. It's clean for an English city. Quite an upscale city really. The nightlife isn't too bad either. The clubbing is usually underground the large Victorian houses with their big cellars. I found the girls quite pretty for English standards.
I don't like to share a room with a lot of strangers in a hostel. I also like a good shower. I know some young people don't mind sharing with a lot of strangers. They think it's a good way to meet new people. I'm not sure if it's possible in Bath anyway. It's not exactly Amsterdam. Bed & Breakfast in England can be quite cheap.
One can see Bath with MSN maps bird's eye: http://maps.live.com/
Search for Bath and click on Bird's eye. It's really fascinating. You can do it with York too.

I have friends from near York. I've never visited York. There are really many other cities I would like to see first. I read about its Viking history, you know Jorvik and all. It also has a Roman history, so it should remind me of Chester (Cheshire) which I have visited several times.

(People who have voted "Most favorite European City" I wonder how many people in this thread have actually been in those cities, not just heard stories about them Lolz)
I love Moscow, Russia.
I adore Kiev, Ukraine too even though it was not included .

That is indeed important to know. I asked about the same question in page 1.

I have two questions in that case.
1. Why do you love Moscow?
2. Did you feel safe in Moscow? have been told central Moscow is quite safe because of all the police. Then again you hear all the corruption with the police. There has been problems for some foreign nationals. There is also the issue of discrimination and racist attacks (some of whom been killed by skinheads) against darker people. I would appreciate if you could comment.
