Do you know about the End of Year Survey of the "Barometer of Happiness and Hope" by WIN/Gallup?
Here is some info about it:
"The End of Year (EoY)™ survey is one of the longest standing traditions of our Association. This survey is compelling and is undisputedly the world’s first and longest global survey of its kind.
WIN/Gallup International Association’s End of Year survey is a global study that collects the public’s view on the challenges that the world faces today. Ongoing since 1977, WIN/Gallup International has always considered that giving a Voice to the People is one of the responsibilities of market researchers and at the core of the founding philosophy of our Association."
and some interesting news about the 2013 End of Year Survey:
Colombia once again ranked happiest country in the world: survey
For the second year in a row, Colombia has topped the list as the world’s happiest country, according to a survey released Thursday by WIN-Gallup.
The survey known as the 2014 Barometer of Happiness and Hope reported that of the 1,012 Colombians polled, 86% self-reported as “happy,” while only 2% reported themselves as “unhappy.” This represents a rise of 9% from 2012 when 77% of respondents rated themselves as “happy.”
Over half, 58%, of respondents reported they would not change countries.
The international market research company conducted surveys in 65 countries.
Fiji, Finland and Argentina follow Colombia in terms of self-reported happiness, according to the poll.
I read the pdf for my country, and got what I expected. Finns have an endless optimism regarding the future, and in most cases it has been justified. The 1910's were better than the 1900's, the 50's better than the 40's the 2000's better than the 1990's and so on. So that optimism might slightly skew the figures upwards. But if the people say they are happy, who am I to disagree?
Looked at the report regarding the other F country, and got what I expected too. "It will be crap in the future."
What a miserable bunch of f*ckers we are. Nothing in the world can make people in this country optimistic for anything. If there was a cure for cancer, people here would complain that it took too long.

The UK and USA has some of the biggest complainers ever, just by looking at comment sections regarding politics in the USA is a huge disappointment, people literally complain over every little thing Obama does, if Obama is eating a meal they would say "why is he wasting his time eating he should be doing something about the mexicans". Its sad because the USA and the UK have the biggest influence than any other country in this world, some of the best musicians, writers, authors and inventions have came from these countries.

Maybe it's the weather? I wouldn't be happy living there too...
