The US has 320 million people where most European countries are often smaller than most US States. My state, Iowa is about 6 times larger than the Netherlands..
The Netherlands is near 17 million while Iowa is 3 million.
What is Sweden and Germany doing in the poll
Why is Israel not in the poll
Maybe not the absolute 1st World but Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Chile, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Greece and Cyprus could have been in the poll as well.
Well, I happen to included the "absolute 1st world" countries only. These countries you listed up there (including Israel) are not first world 'enough', at least from my perspective. All in all, I pretty much focused on countries that are rather popular (or 'touristy') and also high in the 'quality of living' lists.
but then we have outlier cities, anomalies like Detroit, East St Louis, Baltimore, New Orleans that are extremely violent due to a high concentration of poverty, socio-economics and ghettoization, which will obviously skew the statistics.
Most average, mid-sized American cities are very safe.
I hear that very often from Americans. They say there are certain neighborhoods and cities that skew the statistics. Well, the same can be said about most countries, so all statistics are equally skewed.

To think Israel isn't first world enough is ridiculous. It is first world by all measures.
Like anywhere tho, it just depends where u are. In an affluent middle class area-- one won't really encounter any crime, but in an inner city slum/ghetto.... you'll be robbed and or killed..... especially if you're white.
USA is not only violent, but it's also quite racist.

All statistics are skewed by high-crime areas, yes. All statistics are "equally" skewed? We don't know that, unless you have some data we don't have.
