Some of the wing nuts really do believe they are what is standing in the way of "A NEW WORLD ORDER" they really believe this conspiracy theory. They are among some of the NRA's most staunch supporters.

Membership in the Patriot movement also grew exponentially after post Obama. There appears to be quite a bit of white nationalism ideology infused in that movement.

These ideologies are more mainstream than many people are aware of.

It boggles the mind. What really gets me going is when they lie and try and bring guns into Canada.
It happens a lot. Why on earth would you think you need a hand gun in Canada while on holiday??

I voted for the US. Yes you can feel safe in many parts of the US, and in many cities, but the amount of gun violence in the country overall, makes this an easy choice.

Some people feel vulnerable without their guns here's an example a have a family member that carries a gun everywhere anyway he brought it to a family gathering on Easter I might add in a very safe neighborhood anyway I noticed it on his hip and smirked at him he understood my implication and responded "I'm not going to be a victim".

Don't underestimate the effectiveness that the gun cult(NRA) has had on some Americans a whole lot of brainwashing has gone on for a long time and they have deep pockets.

That story is just the kind of thing that sounds incredible to people in Canada and Europe. First of all, someone would of called the police if they saw a civilian walking around with a hand gun on their hip. It's just nuts to us.

Yes, I've bumped into gun cult nuts on this forum. Responsible gun owners exist of course, but still, the more guns there are, the more there are to steal and get into the wrong hands. Not to forget accidental shootings etc.

This is just in Virginia, but interesting none the less.

Nobody cares about your personal fantasies. Yeah I bet you like big thick and long oak logs for your gun handles.

I wondered how long before someone would mentioned Switzerland. You guys always bring it up. It's a terrible comparison when you look at gun restrictions in Switzerland, you may start to understand why it's a terrible comparison.

How about we look at the countries with the highest rate of gun homicide and their respective gun laws?

Gun homicides and gun ownership by country - The Washington Post

Go to the column with gun homicides per 100,000 residents and then compare the leading countries to their gun laws and their ratio of gun ownership. Then do some research on the US and see how many legal gun owners commit homicide. Then look to see where the vast majority of gun homicides in the US are occurring and who is perpetrating those homicides. If you don't live in a ghetto and don't traffic in narcotics, your odds of being killed by a gun are quite slim, despite all of the "gun nuts" in America.

Any rational person will come away from this exercise with the notion that gun ownership does not correlate to homicide and that homicide is more of a cultural problem than a gun problem.

Being that you just tossed Switzerland aside, it bears noting that a larger percentage of the homicides there are committed with guns than the US. This despite, their very rigid gun laws. OTH, Finns are much less inclined to reach for their guns when they feel the need to kill people.
