- whether you really want to live in a country where so many of the people are so deranged and frightened that they either refuse to answer the door after midnight or threaten the person at the door with a firearm.

Enjoy!
Haha! Sorry to to tell you, people in France also refuse to answer their doors. I was staying in an apartment in Paris about 2 years ago, and needed to touch base with a neighbor that lived in the apartment below regarding a heating issue (valve in her apt needed to be turned on) and couldn't get her to to answer her door and it was during the day. I knew the lady was home, and knocked a few times. Tried again in a bit later, same thing.

P.S. You seem to have some real issues with the US. I suggest you not come here, as we're just so "deranged".

Thank you for these few asnweres which has sense, and for wishes of good luck same for you of course!
I don't understand why some people think I'm a troll

Juliette La Bretonne: I'm sorry but I don't consider Brazil as a country to live in. I have run from one of the countries which people do not want to live in and I won't move to another which if citizens could run out off, they would. I consider all of the countries amazing, but most of them are just so when you are a tourist.

It is restrictive because of many weird laws. Yes, you can't chew bubble gum here but you can't buy bubble gum here either...so that protects you to violate the law. Cars, houses, liquors, wine and cigarette are highly regulated here, unless you are too rich, then you'll have them right away. If you are accustomed to having a car, landed house with huge yard, and love partying every night...then bring a lots of money, or make a lot of money here. Car for instance here is 4-5 times the price of the US or Europe. It is a small island so you can pretty figure out why need all these regulations.

- don't eat at the MRT/buses/taxis
- don't spit
- don't litter (there are trash bins in any corner here anyway so throw that f**ing cig butt in the right bin)
- smoke only on the designated areas.
- don't hold a union or street rally
- finish the house party on or before 10PM during weeknights. (or else, police will knock on your door)

Just be civilized then you'll be fine here.

On the other hand, if you are a businessman with a sound capital to invest, Singapore is the best place on earth for you. You can put up a business in less than 10 days (close to no bureaucracy), with less taxes than any other countries. It's a freedom.

Singapore is known for having good multi-racial harmony. There is no religion/ethnic that controls the country, purely government. So it's a freedom!

Prostitution is legal but not the drugs.

So there!
Thank you for this post, sounds very promising. How would you compare Singapoure to Hong Kong or other Asian countries? Are people friendly, did you have problem with adaptation? Did you find there people you could call real friends?
I'm very business oriented and an easy law combines with law taxes are very important for me.

Is it truth, or just a rumor from action movies?
I have to admit that I know nothing about USA, besides few news from TV about crazy people, but there are over 300mln people and even more guns, this gotta happen sometimes..

Edit: I have read few pages about this "knocking to the door" and I don't understand why have I done it. So what? Idiots are everywhere, until I can defend myself or/and police is working well, I don't mind. The problem is when police is coming after an hour and the only thing I can do is to propose a tea to the thief.

Electronic surveillance is pretty easy nowadays, and abuse of power has been around for a much longer time, regardless of technology, it has to do with human nature.

Usually in the US, you have to be committing a serious crime in order to trigger targeted use of the power of surveillance by the authorities.

That doesn't mean that there are no abuses of power. We had a very serious one last year at the Internal Revenue Service, abuse of power in the form of ideological profiling and harassment for partisan gain, and the investigation continues.

Anyway, as I said, the US is still worth it, compared to very many other countries, if your objective is to start up and manage your own business.

But if you define freedom in another way, perhaps look elsewhere.

Good Luck!
