Yes, her great-greatgrandfather emigrated from Finland. She visited her "hometown" some years ago and attracted much media attention.
Other people Finns sometime takes some pride in are who have lived or had semi-permanent residences here. These people include Vladimir Putin and the new King of Spain Felipe VI. (Putin had a second home here in Turku in the 90's.)

Oh yeah people like Abel Tasman, Willem Barentsz, Cornelis de Houtman, Jacob van Heemskerk, Jan Huyghen van Linschoten, Hendrik Brouwer, Olivier van Noort, Dirck Hartog, Willem Jansz, Jacob Roggeveen, Maarten Gerritsz Vries became famous AFTER they left the Netherlands.
I was wondering if people living in various countries around the world took pride and followed the accomplishments of people who immigrated to another country and became famous there, or of famous people who are of the same ethnic origin but were born and raised in another country.
Do Italians get excited over Rubens Barrichello?
What about Poles and Miroslav Klose?
Austrians and Arnold Schwarzenegger?
Bosnians and Croats over Zlatan Ibrahimovic?
And so on...
Not really. You can't choose where you are born so I don't act proud. I consider doing so to be quite arrogant actually.
