Yes Filipinos are proud of Bruno Mars, Enrique Iglesias, Vanessa Hudgens, Nicole Scherzinger, Rob Schneider, Lou Diamond Philip, Tia Carere and Filipinos who participated and got into the finals of American Idol.

Filipinos are proud of Enrique Iglesia's mother Isabel Preysler who is very famous in Spain.

Back to topic,Taiwanese people tend to feel very proud for Ang Lee.

Taiwanese people are also very proud of athletes that do well outside of the country, there are quite a few baseball players that work in the US,some tennis players, some golf players etc.

The problem of this mentality is that we usually don't care about sports and our government does not invest in those people AT ALL,those athletes had to rely on their own family and friends to barely hang in there, until they won a prestigious competition, then Taiwanese people would go orgasmic."Awwww our Taiwanese baby!Mama iz so proud!!!!!"

Then there are those that weren't even born in Taiwan and barely speak Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese,Taiwanese people would still take it very personal and feel very "proud",like say,Jeremy Lin.

Just laughable tbqh.
