In your country, does the government pay for funerals? Burial plots? Graves or tombs?

I have had many people die in my life, and they had enough money, or their spouses did, to pay for a service, burial plot, and grave stone, etc. But what if you die without any savings or family?

In Minnesota, Burial Assistance, as it is called, is a county-level responsibility. Generally there are strict rules; one must not have assets above $2,100, and the total expenses may not exceed $3,500.

Who's income? The deceased or the one who claims the body. I worry about this as my dad is indigent, we are not close, yet i'm his only first degree relative.
