All of them except Mahon, Arrecife, and Soria.
Spanish city names (like Californian or Italian city names) tend to stick in your head.

Having lived in Salamanca, Soria, and Tenerife, well, I know most of them in person.

Cuenca or Guadalaja are more voted than expected. And I expected more votes to La Coruña or Mérida. This is interesting.

Teruel, Arrecife, Soria, Mahon, and Orense I have not heard of.
You should put Consuegra on that list. It confuses even the Spaniards. "What did you say about my mother in law?"

I bet this is because Guadalajara is a major city in Mexico, and Cuenca is a semi-popular day trip from Madrid, no?

Probably yes, but I explained in the first post that they shouldn't be confused

Yes, in Spain.
Santiago de Compostela, there are about 40 "Santiagos" around the world. The destination of the most famous pilgrimage in Europe.
Mérida, province of Badajoz, ancient Roman city of Emerita Augusta, also the capital of Yucatán in México.
Guadalajara, a Spanish province and the provincial capital, 70 miles from Madrid.
Cartagena, Murcial, ancient "Cartago Nova". A city founded by Carthagineans and refounded by Romans. One of the oldest cities in Spain. Currently the city is packed with tourists, I don't know what the hell are they doing there since it's not a touristic destination, more of a cultural capital.
