"There are approximately 550 kilometres of pathways and 260 kilometres of on-street bicycle routes within Calgary, not including the pathways in Fish Creek Provincial Park. The recreational and commuting opportunities are endless."
That's a start, but... Calgary's land area is 825 km2. Helsinki's land area is 214 km2, and has over 1200 kilometres of bikeways. There's a difference between bikable and "bikable". Calgary is still very car-centric. Quickly looked at the 4th and 5th Avenues. Both have 5 lanes in one direction. That tells a lot.
Copenhagen has as its aim that 50% of all commuting within city limits will be done by bike in 2015. What's the situation in Winnipeg?

The highest bike commuting percentage in Canada is Victoria BC at 6%. All other cities are under 3%. Victoria of course pretty much has the mildest and most snow-free winters in the country.

It's "only" 15% in Helsinki, but public transport takes a big chunk of it with 48%, leaving only around 35% with cars.

Sometimes comparisons can be difficult when looking at city limits. Almost all of the suburbs are within Calgary's city limits. While much of the lower density communities of the Helenski region are outside the city limits. Ditto with Vancouver. This is a fair comparison:
Calgary has a higher than average public transit rate for North American cities. It's not that dense, even for North American cities. However, much (maybe most) of the office jobs are downtown and parking is expensive. Transit is mainly used as a commuter system to get downtown. It would be harder to live without a car for anything else compared to say, Boston and probably even most of Vancouver.
from a neighborhood just to the south of downtown:
Beach is popular, but no one is in the water:
