This isn't what people may consider (it varies due to religious and/or traditional beliefs); it's simply what it appears first on the calendar.

^^^This. In the US the calendar says Sunday is first but in every day life, Monday is considered first.

Its the first day of the week on calenders. And I remember my year 2 teacher telling us that Sunday was the first day of the week.
