Kim Jong Il (the leader, or rather the hereditary "king" of N Korea) is like Pistorius : he "invades" like a parasite the front pages of the medias all the time, while at the same time he is (like Pistorius) of very very little interest and relevance- to me at least. I don't understand the obsession of our media with the N Korean leader and "Pistorius". It mainly proves the laziness of most journalists who prefer talking over and over again of these non-subjects instead of moving their ass to find new topics.

In the US, it's all about maintaining an external threat. The US hasn't been without one since the end of WWII. Get rid of an external enemy and there would be no justification to have a 300 billion dollar annual defense budget.
I would like to know, what are your thoughts on North Korea? I have always been fascinated by that country and I would like to know have any of you been there? Or have you wanted to go?
Due to its communist/dictatorship regime, it is a country that I would never consider traveling to.
A country suffering of one of the worst dictatorships - if not the worst - of the world. Kim Jong-un is not human.
Hard to say, there is little objective news coming out of that country.
I assume some African dictatorships are even worse. We only don't care because they don't have nukes and because we basically don't care about Africans' fate anyway as long as it all stays in Africa.
Right, Neuling. Why for instance is there no MEDIA coverage of the infamous rhodesian dictator, president-for-life Robert Mugabe?
There used to be some coverage, but it has long ceased. Zimbabwe is far away from any place that is of interest to the West, so we don't care I'm afraid. Especially our politicians don't care.
I mean, we were not doing anything about Sudan, either, despite the civil war and genocide there...
