If you had an income of $1000/month would you travel through Asia or Latin America (2014, house)

I had an $18 a night room in Siem Reap, but then the cost of beer, food, taxis and massages pushed it well over $33 a day. I guess I could do without food and come in at that $1,000 a month budget.
I realize that Asia isn't all cities but it is far too dense for me. I do enjoy cities from time to time but homogenous Asian metropolises don't interest me.

You do know Asia is the largest continent in the world right?
You don't have to travel in Eastern Pakistan/Nepal/India/Sri Lanka/Bangladesh/Eastern China/Java (Indonesia)

I'm not stupid. According to the map the only areas that aren't too dense for me to enjoy are western China, Mongolia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Papua and parts of Iran, none of which are very high on my places to see list.

May i ask which province/state you come from?
Southern Jordan, Northern Saudi Arabia, Eastern Yemen, Central Oman, Western Turkmenistan, Northern Uzbekistan, Eastern Kyrgyzstan, Eastern Tajikistan, Southern Afghanistan, Northern Burma, Parts of Laos/Cambodia and Central Borneo (Indonesia/Malaysia) are not dense at all.
Overall i would say Asia is less dense than Europe.

I live in California but I prefer to visit places less dense than where I live.
Asia has 95 people per sq km
Europe has 72.5 people per sq km
Be honest for a second, do Northern Saudi Arabia, Eastern Yemen, Central Oman, Western Turkmenistan, Northern Uzbekistan, Eastern Kyrgyzstan, Eastern Tajikistan and Southern Afghanistan really appeal to you? Have you visited any of these places?

1.Asian countries less dense than California:
Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Burma, Mongolia, Georgia, Oman, Jordan, Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,
Siberia, Uzbekistan, Timor-Leste, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Iran, Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan.
European countries more dense than California:
Italy, Portugal, England, Germany, Netherlands, France, Austria, Switzerland, Czechia, Denmark, Poland, Hungary, Belgium, Cyprus, Slovenia, Slovakia, Andorra, Wales, Malta, Monaco, Northern Ireland, Luxembourg, Albania, Moldova, Liechtenstein, San Marino.
2.Now take away Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and come again
3.Not interested in those countries at all, although i've heard good stories about Oman and Kyrgyzstan.

What's your point? There are 25 Asian countries more dense than California and 24 less dense. If we are going to take away Pakistan, India and Bangladesh why not take away the LA and Bay Area metros? Why are you comparing California to countries? California is one of the denser states in the US. There are only 10 Asian countries less dense than the US. By far my favorite region of the US is the western states. The western US has 15 people per sq km. That leave 6 Asian countries with less density and none with any sights I really want to see aside from Russia. South America on the other hand is much less dense, the densest country there is about half the density of California and South American has many natural places that facinate me. People destroy the environment and when there are too many people in regions the destruction is very evident, take Ha Long Bay in Vietnam. It is filled with trash and the water is disgusting because of it. That isn't appealing to me.
I never travelled to Asia, thus I would choose Asia.
But only some countries. I will never visit countries in Middle East due to the safety issues.
Yes, I know, Brazil is not an example of safety, but at least here I know where I can walk and what I should do for avoiding violence. Moreover, I don't speak one single word in arabic, hebrew or farsi.
But I have a lot of interest in countries such as China, India, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Phillipines and Indonesia.
Hey I don't want to be a downer here, but $1,000 a month is about $33 a day. I think you guys are smoking crack if you think you can survive for long in SE Asia on that. I'm in the Philippines right now and have never spent less than $30 a night just for a room. Maybe if you don't need hot water or a toilet that flushes you could get by on less. Then add in beer, rapacious taxi drivers, food etc. you're well over $50 a day. That's $1,500 a month and that is being frugal. If I only had $1,000 a month I'd stay home.
and this of course totally excludes the cost of female companionship -- whether you pay directly or indirectly. You think you are coming over here and getting GFE for free?
it can be done. just get a cheap apt or roommate, get used to eating crappy food, and focus on sneakouts or dating sites.
